“Power is a constant. Awareness is the driver of understanding.”
“We exist as superpositions of possibilities. The goal of pulses is to plant the seeds of balance rather than desire.”
Wow! That’s deep right? Wrong. The above quotes were taken from this website: <sebpearce.com/bullshit/>, which literally generates “New Age poppycock.” Seemingly profound statements that are mere nonsense wrapped up in eloquent prose.
I constantly see people posting philosophical quotes and phrases on social media that, if properly analyzed, amounts to mindless nonsense or neuronic absurdity; meaningless rhetoric that may sound deep and soul-searching, yet in the end leaves the mind and spirit wanting. New Age thinking and philosophical rhetoric are no substitute for conviction and an adherence to a true faith.
Acceptance of all beliefs does not amount to spiritual maturity but rather to a severe lack of decernment. All beliefs and all philosophies cannot all be truth; likewise, not everyone’s opinion is correct. In the United States, especially since the advent of social media, the growing consensus is that everyone’s opinion should be considered equally. Yet even in a democratic society, we should be cautious and not weigh the uninformed opinion the same as those who have taken the time to learn and become educated about the subject. Guard yourself and become informed before spouting off the nonsensical dogmas of current cultural trends. Make an informed decision base upon understanding and forsake the temptation of a shallow philosophical world view.
“See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ.” (Colossians 2:8 NASB)
