Novel News: June 2020

Down here in Houston, the heat and humidity is rearing its ugly head, but it also means that summer is nearly here! Welcome to June 2020! I know many of us have had a difficult Spring, but through God’s grace and providence we are persevering! Remember that historians will write and dissect this period for decades to come. The question remains, what are we doing to make this world a better place despite the darkness around us. Our lives were disrupted and fear seemed to overwhelm. Yet we are still here! As always, I am thrilled to be sharing what God is doing through my writing! Get ready for some more Novel News!

EVENTS:

For the moment, all book signing events have been cancelled or postponed. I do hate that the current circumstances require that these events need to be cancelled, but I also want all my readers to stay safe and well!

THE NEXT BOOK:

The first draft of Book Three in the Chronicles of Alethia series is DONE!!! Work has begun on the second draft and hopefully I will be submitting it to my editors by late Summer 2020. I’m very excited as I make edits and polish the manuscript as things are coming to a head. All the characters are facing hard choices. Can they any of them hope to stop the dragon and his army? Several of my readers asked how Book Three was coming along and my answer continues to be that the book will be longer and more intense than Book One or Book Two. The war with the dragon has led to another showdown with all our favorite characters. In addition, many of the character’s lives, which were turned upside down in the last book, must now make hard choices that will determine how the war will ultimately end. Book Three will definitely leave you asking: Is all hope lost?

So excited as the story really comes together and I look forward to sharing this and other stories with you.

Novel News: April 2020

Welcome to April 2020! I know many of us had a difficult March. I think it is safe to assume that the events we all shared, whether in person or via the television/internet, will go down in the history books. Our lives were disrupted and fear seemed to overwhelm. Yet here we are in April! Spring is here and with Easter we have a chance at new beginnings. As always, I am thrilled to be sharing what God is doing through my writing! Brace yourself for some more Novel News!

EVENTS:

This spring I was excited to be participating in two incredible events, yet because of the COVID-19 crisis both the event at the Book Attic and at Copperfield Books were cancelled. I do hate that these events need to be cancelled, but I also want all my readers to stay safe and well!

POSTPONED: Copperfield Books (TBA for later this year)

THE NEXT BOOK:

Work on Book Three in the Chronicles of Alethia series has picked up and I’ve been able to complete over 90 percent of the first draft. Things are coming to a head as all the characters are facing yet another crisis. Can they any of them hope to stop the dragon and his army? Several of my readers asked how Book Three was coming along and my answer continues to be that the book will be longer and more intense than Book One or Book Two. The war with the dragon has led to another showdown with all our favorite characters. Book Three will definitely leave you asking: Can anyone stop dragon?

Have Hope

To all my readers and in the words of the apostle Paul, “Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”

The past two weeks, not to mention the past two months, our world has been turned upside down by the new Coronavirus. A tiny, minuscule organism that possesses the power to render each of us ill and even threatens to bring down our economy and rob us of our hope and sanity. We watch on TV or read on the internet of the impact of this virus and are left dreading the possibility of becoming infected ourselves. In all this, where can we find hope?

My day jobs are teaching, which is difficult since this virus has closed the schools, and working in healthcare. Needless to say, I’ve spoken to a number of people this week who’ve expressed to me their growing fear and dread. When they ask me, “how are you coping with all of this?” or “how can you be this calm?” I have only one answer: my faith and hope is placed in Jesus.

I know that may seem like a Sunday School answer…because it is. The reality we now must live in is simply out of my control. All I can do is wash my hands, keep my distance, and pray.

I’ve been reading in the book of Matthew for the past few days and I’ve come to this passage:

“Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:31-34‬ ‭NASB‬‬

I guess we could also add, “do not worry about having enough toilet paper” to the list as well. 🙃

“And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6:27‬ ‭NASB‬‬

The thing is, our faith in God should enable us to ignore the fear of this thing. Should we take care of ourselves and obey the warning of our government and healthcare professionals? Yes! But should we allow fear and worry to consume us? No!

Why?

Because our God is greater! And He will see us through. Should we die, our God will guide us home to heaven. Should we survive, our God will continue to provide for our needs here on earth.

Remember that in the eye of the storm, He remains in control. When the darkness closes in Lord, still I will say: Blessed be the name of the Lord!

If you are already a believer in Jesus Christ, now is the time to share with others where your calm comes from. If you are not yet a believer and you would like information about how to become one, click here.

Canceled: Book Signing

To all my fans and interested parties,

I’m saddened to share this, but the Book Attic and I have decided to cancel the book signing event for this Saturday, March 21, 2020. This is due to the new CDC recommendations and guidelines to limit gatherings to less than 10 people.

I do hope that we can reschedule for sometime later…after the current crisis has abated.

In the meantime, for those who still wish to purchase a signed copy, you may click one of the following links:

We Still Worship!

Today across the world, church buildings are empty because of fear of the Covid-19 virus. Yet the people of God can join together to worship thanks to live stream and new technologies that enable us to gather virtually to worship our King. A reminder that the Church is not a building or a denomination. It is the people of God! Wherever you are this morning, let us all join together to praise the One who died for our sins! Jesus died for us and arose on the third day! He is alive and we are free! Trust in Him! Praise Him in the midst of this storm!

“The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in You. Trust in the LORD forever, For in GOD the LORD, we have an everlasting Rock.”
